About Us

Where did it start?

Dipherent Records was started on March 12, 2020, by 17-year-old Its.Jovahn. As he became more experienced in the music industry he realize many artists are not the main priority. Many artists end up signing contracts that are not beneficial for their future. Knowing how hard it can be to make it. But then to add on to it, you can lose it all to a record label that takes what you've done and worked so hard for and contorts it for their profit rather than for the both of you. He wanted to make a community that supported each other and informed artists of opportunities even as independent artists. Its.Jovahn wrote, "The goal is to help the artist do it themselves with the information and resource we have to grow as a whole rather than one on top of the other."

Where did the name come from?

The name Dipherent Records came from the word different. But in a world where everyone is trying to be different often for personal gains, attention, acceptance, or some sort of trend. We felt the origins of the word wasn't fit for our mission, so we spelled it Dipherently. If Dipherent was to have a definition it would be "to be yourself no matter what pressures may be around, for the growth of one's self, as well as the community." Here at Dipherent Records, we strive to set ourselves apart from record labels that use and abuse their powers because we're not a record label. We intend to grow as a reliable and resourceful platform for creatives and our community.

What is Dipherent Records if we're not a records label?

Dipherent Records is a platform that hand-select creatives into the collective to help uplift creatives & provide constructive criticism for those striving to better themselves with their budget. No, we do not provide financial assistance but we show how and where to put their money to gain better positioning in their career. We provide suggestions on how to go about their creative process to make it more productive and professional when viewed by others. We provide information regarding opportunities that could benefit these creatives as well. (Ex. Concert opening, Open Mics, Networking Events) Along with this we intend to provide information to the public that we found with-in the collective to better our comunity free of charge.
